As a student ministry leader, you know all too well the struggle students often face as they transition out of high school and into the next stage of their life. This course will help you understand why the transition after high school is difficult for student and how to structure your ministry so that you are sending students out prepared for the challenges ahead.
This study is divided into two section, each asking an important question. The first section will look to answer the question: Why Is The Transition After High School So Difficult For Teenagers? The second section will address: What can we, as ministry leaders, do to equip them for those challenges?
In the first section, you will be introduced to the concept of why the life transition after high school is considered the Great Gap of Student Ministry.
In session two, we will look at the common short and long term effects of an individual that is not prepared for the challenges of life after high school.
This part of the course will examine the evolution of adolescence and explore three types of students in your ministry.
Section two begins by defining a new perspective for youth ministry called Transitional Discipleship and how it will impact your ministry.
A favorite topic for student ministry leaders, this section will describe the discipleship partnership between parents and the church.
This session will challenge you to determine a discipleship goal for every student before they graduate from your ministry. This will help you incorporate Transitional Discipleship in every grade and every level.
This session will focus on the senior class and how to make this year unique as you maximize opportunities for your oldest students.
The Ownership Wheel is an exercise that you will be introduced to that will help you develop your Student Exit Strategy into curriculum topics, beginning with your youngest class of students.
The last session will introduce a five step followup plan for you to implement as you help your graduates prepare for this major life transition.
