Living Your Testimony in College

Sometime in your life, you will be asked to “share your story.” This will most likely happen in connection to your faith and, the older you get, the more of a story you will have to tell. Every adult who is asked to share a testimony will include a report of the college-aged years.

Most of these stories include a childhood/teenage report, a challenge in college, and either continued struggle or recovery as an adult. For example, you might hear someone talk about how they grew up in a Christian home and were involved in the youth group in high school but struggled in their faith in college. Sometimes, you hear someone tell about incredible moments of growth and maturity in college as the students got involved in a local campus ministry or church. The stories are all different, but everyone will have one.

If you are a graduating senior this spring and heading off to college, the military, or a job this fall, you will be ending one part of your testimony and preparing to write the next. What will your story be like over the next 5 years? That is up to you to determine how you live your life. Your story will be written through the relationships you have, the decisions you make, and the maturity (or immaturity) that you cling to.

You will tell that story one day in the future, but today is when you create it. Be wise and live a great testimony in college so that you glorify the Lord and bless those who will one day be encouraged by the story you tell.
