Community Won’t Find You—But You Can Find It

When you arrive on campus, it can feel like everyone else already has friends.

They don’t.

Most freshmen are wondering the exact same thing:

“Where do I fit?”

The difference is that some students decide to start looking for community right away.

One of the best things you can do during your first few weeks of college is simply say “yes.”

Yes to the welcome event.

Yes to the church invitation.

Yes to grabbing coffee after Bible study.

Yes to introducing yourself.

No one expects you to have your best friends on day three of college. Real friendships take time.

But they almost always begin with one small decision to show up.

This summer, start thinking about what kind of community you want—not just what kind of classes you’ll take or what your dorm room will look like.

Pray that God would lead you to people who will encourage your faith, challenge you to grow, and remind you of who you are in Christ.

Because one of the greatest gifts you can give your future self is deciding today that community matters.
