So… What Exactly Is Chi Alpha?

If you’ve started looking into college ministries, you’ve probably come across the name Chi Alpha. And if you’re like most students, your first thought might be:

“Wait… is that a fraternity?”

The answer is no.

Chi Alpha is a Christian campus ministry that exists to help college students find community, grow in their faith, and follow Jesus during their college years. The name comes from the Greek letters Chi and Alpha, which stand for “Christ’s Ambassadors.”

One of the things that makes Chi Alpha unique is its focus on building strong relationships through small groups and discipleship. While many students first connect through large group gatherings, a big part of the ministry happens through smaller communities where students can ask questions, study Scripture together, and encourage one another through the challenges of college life.

College is one of the biggest transitions you’ll ever experience. You’ll make new friends, face new challenges, and have more independence than ever before. Ministries like Chi Alpha exist to help students navigate that transition with a supportive community and a faith that continues growing beyond high school.

As we continue our Campus Ministry Spotlight series, our goal is to introduce you to different ministries you may find on your future campus. Every ministry has its own personality and approach, but they all share a common goal: helping students find community and grow in their relationship with God.
