When the Future Feels Fuzzy…

If you’re a high school senior, there’s a good chance your brain currently feels like a browser with 27 tabs open, half of them frozen, and one of them blasting unexpected music. Applications, essays, majors, scholarships, decisions… AND you’re still expected to show up to school every day like you’re not lowkey fighting for your life? Brutal.

On yesterday’s podcast, Eli reminded us of something that sounds simple but hits deep:
This might be the first big life decision you’ve ever had to make.
And that’s why it feels so heavy.

Up to now, most major decisions were made for you. Your parents picked your neighborhood. The school district placed you in classes. Your youth pastor decided the retreat dates. You chose things like phone cases and weekend plans. But college? Your major? Your future career?
Yeah… those decisions feel like they have an echo. Like they’re going to follow you around forever.

But here’s the good news: you’re not carrying this alone.

Eli told a story yesterday about losing two major football scholarships in the same afternoon — both doors just slammed shut. Panic. Confusion. A “what in the WORLD is going on” moment.
But on the other side?
He ended up at a school he originally said he’d never attend… and that’s where Jesus completely changed his life.

Which leads to something incredibly reassuring for anyone standing at a crossroads:

God is already standing in your “next.”

You may not know your future major.
Your future roommate.
Your future school.
Your future city.

But God does — and He’s not pacing around heaven hoping you pick the “right” one.
He’s steady. Sovereign. Still good.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed today, take Eli’s encouragement with you:

  1. Look back at where God has already been faithful.
Even if it’s small, it still counts.
  2. Stop spiraling into the “what ifs.”
    What-ifs aren’t reality — and they aren’t trustworthy.

  3. Keep your mind on what is true.
    God’s character. God’s nearness. God’s unchanging nature.

Your future doesn’t have to be clear to be secure.

God’s already in tomorrow.
You just get to walk with Him today.
