Choosing Faith Every Day

Faith isn’t something we stumble upon during life’s mountaintops and forget during the valleys. True faith meets us in both the highs and lows, and it sustains us through every season. Choosing faith every day, especially in the face of suffering, keeps us grounded in what truly matters.

Suffering has a way of stripping away illusions. It reminds us that this world is not our home. Life’s challenges can refine us and draw us closer to God. 1 Corinthians 13:11 reminds us: “When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me.” College, and life in general, is an opportunity to step into spiritual maturity by choosing faith daily, regardless of circumstances.

But what does it mean to choose faith every day?

  1. Remember that this world will disappoint, but God never will. Romans 5:3-5 highlights the reality that suffering, perseverance, and hope are part of an ongoing cycle in this life. Expecting perfection from this world will leave us disillusioned, but God’s promises are trustworthy and eternal.

  2. Live with eternity in mind. Decisions made today shape character and future. Choosing faith every day means remembering that we are citizens of heaven and living in light of that reality.

  3. Cling to God’s truth in both the good and the hard times. Faith isn’t just for moments of crisis; it’s also for the mundane and the joyful. Daily prayer, time in Scripture, and fellowship with believers equip us to walk with God through all seasons.

When hardships come, it can be tempting to question God’s goodness or withdraw from Him. Suffering is not the absence of God’s presence. Instead, it’s often in those moments that we encounter Him most deeply. Faith isn’t a one-time decision; it’s a daily commitment to trust God, walk with Him, and rely on His strength.

As you navigate the highs and lows of life, remember: This world is not your home. Choose faith every day, and let it anchor you in the hope and promises of your eternal future.
