End of Year Reflection: What You’re Carrying Into the New Year

The end of a semester has a funny way of revealing things.

Not just grades or decisions or deadlines—but what you’re actually carrying.
Habits. Expectations. Stress. Confidence. Fear. Growth.

Before the calendar flips and everything feels like it has to be “new,” pause and take inventory.

Three Questions Worth Sitting With

  • What drained me this semester? (Be honest. Overcommitment? Comparison? Trying to please everyone?)
  • What sustained me? (A friend, a routine, prayer, movement, writing, community—don’t overlook the small things.)
  • What do I want to carry forward—and what needs to stay behind? This isn’t about resolutions. It’s about awareness.

Scripture reminds us to “throw off everything that hinders” (Hebrews 12:1). That doesn’t mean everything was bad—just that not everything is meant to follow you into what’s next.

As the New Year settles in, give yourself permission to rest and reflect.
You don’t need to fix your whole life before next semester.
You just need to walk into it lighter—and a little more honest than before.
