It’s Okay If It Doesn’t Feel Real Yet

You’ve graduated.

The parties are over, the cap and gown have been put away, and people keep asking if you’re “ready for college.”

But if you’re honest… it still doesn’t quite feel real.

Maybe you’re counting down the days until move-in. Maybe you’re trying not to think about it too much. Maybe one day you’re excited about decorating your dorm room, and the next you’re realizing this could be one of your last summers living at home.

If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone.

This season between graduation and college is unique. Your high school chapter has officially ended, but your college chapter hasn’t quite begun. You’re living in the middle—and sometimes that can feel confusing.

You may find yourself soaking up ordinary moments more than you expected. Family dinners. Late-night drives with friends. Sunday mornings at your home church. Movie nights. Even the little routines that once felt normal suddenly become meaningful because you know they’re about to change.

Don’t rush through this season.

Be present. Make memories. Tell people you’re grateful for them. Spend time with the friends who have walked through high school with you. Thank the teachers, coaches, youth leaders, and family members who helped shape who you are.

And while you’re doing all of that, remember this: God isn’t only preparing a place for you—He’s preparing you for the place.

The same God who has been faithful throughout high school is already waiting for you on your college campus. He isn’t surprised by what’s ahead, and He won’t stop walking with you just because your address changes.

So if college still doesn’t feel real yet, that’s okay.

Take this summer one day at a time. Enjoy where you are today while trusting God with where you’ll be tomorrow.
